Mont Blanc tunnel under the Alps is the world’s largest tunnel. It holds the road for more than 11kilometers thousands of meters below Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps. It is open all year, which is blocked by snow for half the year.
The bombing of hard rock tunnel led from 1959 to 1962. The teams started spending French and Italian and work from opposite ends and met about half of full resolution. This was a great achievement after the 11 km tunnel through the mountains.
Worker found so manu difficulty while construction. They often had to work knee-deep in thick mud. They were not sure, even outside the tunnel. Many of them were killed off by mudslides cascading down the mountain slides.
