ALGAE LAMPS - eat CO2



French chemist Pierre dynamic lamp invented algae do not require electricity for lighting, and also eats carbon emissions that cause global warming.

French start-up that works, FermentAlg, installed a tank full of algae in a parking lot in Bordeaux. It feeds on CO2 in the atmosphere at a rate of 1 ton per year, and the amount that a tree absorbs all his life, according to the French Shamengo project.

Algae lamps use150-200X more CO2 per year than trees.

While development is still needed to make a profitable product, Calleja said lamppost microalgae has the potential to provide a much cleaner air in urban areas and the revolution in the urban landscape.
