Pyramid – Overview of Construction

We have covered from the step pyramid to the true pyramid. As we know that Pyramids are the “Seven wonders of the world.”

The Step Pyramid

Descending from the north corridor leading to the burial chamber. Underground galleries are surrounded by all the sides. The first, and probably the only step pyramid ever completed, is that of King Netjerykhet Djoser at Saqqara. The Step pyramid is not beautiful as the True pyramid, which could explain the quick abandonment of this type of pyramid.

The True Pyramid

The Step Pyramid is a real natural evolution and improvement. The first real pyramid was introduced at the beginning of Dynasty 4. The actual pyramid structure is almost the same as a step pyramid. Packing blocks are stacked until the dimensions were right, and then finishing blocks (usually limestone) were the last touch. Aesthetics are more pleasing to the step pyramid, but the construction is not really different.

Construction Techniques

A main problem for worker was that how to carry the large stone to such height. The ramps were built on inclined planes of mud brick and rubble. They then dragged the blocks to the required height. As the pyramid’s height was increased they extend the height and base width. For construction of a pyramid many ramps were constructed.

The step pyramid was first constructed and then packing blocks were laid, the ramps could have run from one step to another rather than approaching the
pyramid face at right angles.

Pi denotes a certain understanding of some of the pyramids, but the mathematical knowledge of the Egyptians in the calculation did not include the ability to jump on. Such as counting the revolutions of the drum by means of an “accidental” may have that are possible.

Most real pyramids around a central core is a number of supporting walls. Outside the walls of the center of the height decreases. In other words, the original pyramid is essentially true, there is a stepped pyramid. Adds stability to the internal governance structure. Shipping blocks formed by the faces of the exterior walls of the “Steps” filled blocks (often Limestone) completed the structure of the pyramid cast abutments.

Architects and builders of the pyramids of Dynasties 12 and 13 are used in the construction of a different form. Mainly because of the economy, its internal material was suitable for relatively normal structures. Solid walls of stone ran short cross walls and stone block, ruble or mud bricks with a series of chambers formed. Usually added to an outer cover, and even a short period, or very effective, although it is closer to the construction of the previous methods. The pyramids were built with structural design and is very shabby.
