FLY ASH BRICKS-AAC(autocaved aerated concrete) BLOCKS

FLY ASH BRICKS

Fly ash brick is the  construction material containing fly ash and water. It is compressed at 28Mpa(278 atm) and cured for 1 day at 66 °C of steam then air entertainment agent is added. By adding CaO in fly ash brick is known as “self-cementing”. Manufacturing of flyash brick reduces mercury pollution, and costs up to 20% then normal brick

FLY ASH BRICKS

They are lighter in weight then traditional bricks.

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete was invented in the mid-1920s by the Swedish architect and inventor Johan Axel Eriksson. It was the major invention of that time. It is light weight, thermal insulated and fire resistance. It is sound resistance also. Due to its advantage as abow workability, flexibility and durability can be increased.

Major component are fly ash, water, quicklime, cement, aluminum powderand gypsum. Hardness can be achieved by cement and rapid(instant) curing.. Gypsum provides lightness and insulation properties.fly ash bricks are 2.5 time lighter than normal bricks. By providing fly ash bricks we can save 30-35%,so it reduce dead load.

Advantages

  1. No breakage of edges while transportation and use because of high strength.

  2. Because of uniform size of the brick requirement of mortar is reduced up to 50% for joints and plaster.

  3. POP can directly applied to the wall without plastering

  4. We can use this bricks without soaking, just sprinkle the water and start construction.

Disadvantages

1.Weak bonding strength. By adding marble waste bonding strength can be increased.

2.It is available in limited size. large size of bricks make more breakage.

3. Air exchange is poor thus house become unhealthy.
