Narmada Main Canal is a contour canal. It is the biggest lined irrigation canal in the world. It is about 458 km. long up to Gujarat -Rajasthan border and 74 kms further in Rajasthan.


The total length of Main Canal, Major Distributries and Secondary Distributries covers a huge area of 1477 km and spreads happiness and prosperity to 124 villages in Jalore and Barmer District 

The Main Canal is lined with plain cement concrete to minimize sippage losses to attain higher velocity and to control the water logging in future. The lining work is carried out with the mechanized pavers. Such a large scale paving of concrete lining is done for the first time in India.
